Zita Carvalhosa
Director
of the Sao Paulo Film Festival.
From 1983
she has been directing the production
company Filmes where projects from
independent filmmakers are supported.
As producer of a wide range of feature
films, television series and documentaries
she is the responsible of a variety
of renowned films, from a very high
quality and an innovative character.
Her full dedication to the short film
has pushed her into producing more
than 20 titles which have been awarded
inside and outside Brasil, this way
trying the whole world get to know
the major representatives of the new
generation of the brazilian cinema:
Cao Hamburger, José Roberto
Torero and Flavio Federico among others.
She was
both founder and director of the Sao
Paulo Short Film Festival, whose 15th
edition was celebrated on the last
august. She also chairs, from 1985,
the Cultural Association Kinoforum,
a non-profit organization, which promotes
every kind of activities in relation
to the development of the brazilian
cinema all over the world. In Kinoforum
she is in charge of promoting projects
for digital short films in collaboration
with the poorest communities of Sao
Paulo.
Her filmography
widespreads all over the cinema and
television environments, but above
all, her work has been especially
important in the short films field.
