
As a filmmaker Mia Engberg has always focused her career on cutting-edge documentaries and underground short stories. She portrays people who, in one way or another, live outside mainstream society, like street-children, gay skinheads and gender-benders. She undertook studies of Cinematographic Direction at the Dramatic Institute of the Cinema School in Stockholm and at the Ateliers Varan in Paris. She has achieved a great success with the making of a documentary programme for the Swedish Radio about the adolescent people: Jävla hora typ. She has been the responsible for the IKON programme about the Short Film Industry for the Swedish Television and is currently working as a teacher for the Stockholm Film School. She has also started the company SexyFilm to produce and distribute alternative queer erotic movies from an underground perspective.
