. Born in Bilbao, he studied at the Escuela
Superior de Ingenieros Industriales (High School of
Industrial Engineers) of Bilbao. In 1967, he founded
the University Film-Club, within the same School, the
most active club at the time.
In 1974 he founded the production company LAN ZINEMA,
along with Javier Rebollo, producing many commercial
spots, as well as fiction and documentary short films,
during the first years of activity. He was for several
years a member of the Junta Directiva de la Asociación
Independiente de Productores Vascos ( Board of Directors
for the Independent Association of Basque Producers).
He has been a member of the Consejo Asesor de la Cultura
Vasca (Consulting Board for the Basque Culture) and
member of the Comité Asesor para la Cinematografía
(Cinematography Counsulting Board) of the Ministry of
Culture during 1986-87, 1990-91 y 2002-03. Currently
he is President of the Asociación de Productores
Vascos (Basque Producers’ Association) (EPE-APV).
As a film director he has made the following movies:
“Siete Calles”
(1981) (co-directed with Javier Rebollo), “El
mar es azul” (1989) y “Entre
todas las mujeres” (1997).
He has also worked as an editor, scriptwriter and producer.
He participated as a member of the jury at the Semana
del Cine Español (The Week of Spanish Films)
of Murcia, and at the La Primavera Cinematográfica
(Cinematographic Spring) of Lorca. |
