. He was born in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat
(Barcelona) in 1970. From 1984 to 1988 he filmed 14
super-8mm. short films. In 1989 he was given a grant
by the Culture Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya,
and lives in Paris working with the film director, Marcel
Hanoun.
He has made several short films; among them: “Es
tard” (1994) and “L’escampavies”
(1998), for which he won different national and international
awards. As a feature-length film director he has made
four films: “El cielo
sube”(1991) (Prize Ciudat de Barcelona
1922, selected in the festivals of Locarno and Venice),
“L’arbre de les
cireres” (1998) (Prize FIPRESCI in the
Festival Internazionale del Film Locarno, 1998), “Pau
y el Seu germà” (2000) (Selected
in Cannes Festival, 2001 y Prize Ondas 2001 to Best
Spanish Director) y “Las
manos vacías” (2003) (Selected in
Cannes Festival, 2003).
