Film made contrary to conventions
in the industry of the time, motivated by a militant desire
to influence the course of events. Political films that
laid their bases during and against Franco's dictatorship,
here embracing Franco's last years and the period of the
Transition. There are sixty-two of various lengths, distributed
over fourteen programmes. The filmmakers include Pere
Portabella, José Mª Nunes, Paulino Viota,
Antoni Padrós, Llorenç Soler, Colectivo
de Cine de Madrid, Andrés Linares, and Francisco
Avizanda.
Approach to the work of the French filmmaker Nicolas
Philibert, whose films display an interesting equilibrium
between individual experience and social activity, between
private and public, between the ethical and the aesthetic.
Five films make up the series. One of them is "Être
et avoir", a documentary that looks at the adventure
of learning and the world of education. It is enjoying
tremendous success in France.
Retrospective series comprising
fifty-three shorts. They span the sixty-year history
of the renowned Canadian National Film Board/ Office
National du Film (NFB-ONF)) and of the Quebec film library.
They include animated films by Norman McLaren, recognized
internationally as one of the greats.
